Bypoll results: BJP leads in Gujarat, SP gains in UP

The counting of votes for three Lok Sabha and 33 assembly seats spread in 10 states is progressing smoothly. By-elections in these constituencies were held on Saturday. Three Lok Sabha seats that went to the polls are Vadodara in Gujarat, Mainpuri in Uttar Pradesh and Medak in Telangana. At Vadodara Lok Sabha seat in Gujarat, BJP candidate Ranjanben Bhatt is leading over her nearest rival and Congress candidate Narendra Rawat by a margin of over one lakh votes. Vododara Lok Sabha seat was vacated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to retain Varanasi. Out of 9 Assembly seats that went to polls in Gujarat, BJP is leading at 7 seats, while Congress is leading at 2 seats.
Out of 11 Assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh, Samajwadi Party is leading at 6, while BJP and its allies are leading at 5 seats. Ruling Samajwadi party is also leading in Mainpuri Lok Sabha bye election

In West Bengal, ruling Trinamool Congress candidate Dipendu Viswas is leading in Bashirhat South assembly segment. According to available trends, Mr. Viswas is leading over his nearest BJP rival Samik Bhattacharjee by over 10,000 votes. While Congress Candidate Santosh Pathak is leading in Chowranghee seat over his nearest rival Trinamool Congress candidate Nayna Bandhyopadhyay by over 2500 votes. In Andhra Pradesh ,TDP candidate T Somiya is leading by over 11000 votes over his nearest rival Congress candidate B Baburam.
