Bye-elections for the Nellore Lok Sabha constituency in Andhra Pradesh and 26 Assembly segments in eight states will be held on the 12th of June. The by poll for Assembly constituencies will be held for one seat each in Madhya Pradesh, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Jharkhand, two in West Bengal and 18 in Andhra Pradesh. In a press release, the Election Commission of India said that notification will be issued on the 18th of next month. The last date for filing nominations will be the 25th while last date for withdrawal will be the 28th of May. Counting of votes will be held on 15th of June. With the announcement of schedule for bye-elections the Election Commission has banned the release of fresh grants under the MP, MLA and MLC Local Area Development Funds in the poll-bound states.
