Bye-election for Mukto assembly seat in Arunachal on July 14

In Arunachal Pradesh, the election commission of India has decided to hold the bye-election for 3-Mukto ST Assembly Constituency on July 14. The seat fell vacant after the death of Late Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu who died in a chopper crash on April 30. With the announcement of election, the provision of the model code of conduct has come into force in Tawang District from June 14 and shall be effective till the completion of election. Last date of nominations is June 27 while the scrutiny would be on June 28 and last date of withdrawal of candidature is June 30. The votes would be counted on July 18. The commission further directed to all the departments to take note of the model code of conduct and added that any violation of the instruction regarding ban on transfer of officer/ officials connected with conduct of election, payment out of discretionary fund and guidelines on model code of conduct for political parties and candidates will be viewed very seriously and necessary action would be taken on each case of violation.
