By-poll is now on for Maharajgan& Howrah Lok Sabha seats

Bye-poll for Maharajganj Lok Sabha seat in Bihar and Howrah constituency in West Bengal is taking place today.

Polling began at 7 am and will continue till 4 p.m. in naxal affected areas in Bihar while at rest of the places it will continue till 6 p.m. In Howrah constituency, polling will continue till 4.30 P.M.

In Bihar, 29 companies of the central paramilitary forces and state security forces have been deployed to conduct free and fair poll.

Over 14 lakh 98 thousand voters are eligible to exercise their voting rights. There are six candidates in fray. The by-election is being held due to death of RJD Member Uma Shankar Singh. The counting of votes will be held on 5 th June.

Polling has also begun in the Howrah constituency in West Bengal. All booths in the constituency have been notified as super sensitive.

Elaborate security arrangement have been made for free, fair and smooth conduct of polls. The seat fell vacant after the death of the sitting Trinamool Congress M P. Ambika Banerjee.

Over 14 lakh 47 thousand voters will exercise their franchise through 18 hundred and 51 polling centers.
