BWF World Tour Finals: PV Sindhu playing Japan's Akane Yamaguchi in the Women's Singles semi-final match

In the ongoing BWF World Tour Badminton Finals in Bali, two-time Olympic medallist P. V. Sindhu is playing Japan's Akane Yamaguchi in the Women's Singles semi-final match today. Sindhu, the reigning world champion, suffered a three-game defeat to top seed Pornpawee Chochuwong of Thailand in her third and final group 'A' match yesterday. This was Sindhu's third loss to the 2016 world junior champion Chochuwong in seven meetings.

Meanwhile, in the Men's Singles India's Lakshya Sen got a walkover for the next round with Danish player Rasmus Gemke. Sen will now play Olympic Champion another Danish player Viktor Axelsen today.

Yesterday, Viktor Axelsen and Tokyo Games silver medallist Tai Tzu Ying were named the BWF Male and Female Player of the Year respectively in recognition of their stellar runs this season.
