Bureau of Indian Standards Bill, 2015 moved in LS for passing

Food and Consumer Affairs Minister Ram Vilas Paswan today moved the Bureau of Indian Standards Bill, 2015 in the Lok Sabha for consideration and passing. The bill provides for establishment of a National Standards Body for the harmonious development of standardization and assessment and quality assurance of goods, articles processes and services.<br/><br/>It also seeks to broaden its ambit, and allow the Central government to make it mandatory for certain notified goods, articles, processes and others to carry the standard mark. The bill has also a provision of imposing penalty up to five lakh rupees for improper use of the Indian standard mark.
