Budh Purnima is celebrated across the country

Today is Budha Purnima. The day marks the birth, enlightenment and Mahaparinirvan of Mahatma Budha in the 7th century Before Christ.

The Buddhists all across the world, including India, Sri Lanka, Japan, Singapore, Taiwan, Indonesia and Nepal celebrate the day with religious fervor.

The President, Vice President and the Prime Minister have greeted the people on the occasion of Budh Purnima.

Coinciding with 'Budha Purnima', the moon will be closest to the earth today than it will be on any other night in 2012 and will appear significantly larger. The phenomenon is called super-moon. On November 28 this year, the moon will be farthest from earth.
