<br/>The budget session of Parliament begins tomorrow with an address by the President Pratibha Devisingh Patil to a joint sitting of the two Houses. The address will outline government's plans and policies on key issues. <br/><br/>BJP, the main opposition party, has demanded a discussion on the issue of rising prices on the very first working day on February 23, when the two Houses take up normal business. The Left and some other parties, including two key partners of the UPA – the DMK and the Trinamool Congress have also demanded a discussion on the issue at the earliest. Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj said that if the government agrees to a debate on the issue on the first working day, there would be no disruptions in the House. The CPI's Gurudas Dasgupta said that the Left would move an adjournment motion, if this demanded is not heeded. <br/><br/>The Prime Minister, Dr, Manmohan Singh has said that the government is prepared for discussion on all issues including the Indo-Pak Foreign Secretary-level talks scheduled later this week.<br/><br/>Opposition parties have identified several issues including terrorism, internal security and Ranganath Misra Commission Report on reservation for minorities. The report of Justice Sageer Ahmed on Centre-State Relations, which the BJP perceives as an attempt to grant greater autonomy to Jammu and Kashmir, is also likely to come up. <br/><br/>The General Budget will be presented on February 26, and the Railway Budget on February 24. The session will conclude on May 7. <br/><br/>The two Houses will adjourn for a recess from March 16 to April 12, to enable the Standing Committees consider demands for grants of various Ministries.
