The Budget Session of Puducherry Legislative Assembly began today with the address of the Lieutenant Governor Dr Kiran Bedi. <br />''<br />''In the address, Dr Bedi said that it is heartening to note that on account of prudent financial management, the UT finances remain stable and all the fiscal parameters remain within the prescribed limits.<br />''  <br />'' Stating that Puducherry has been declared as Open Defecation Free, she said 4,573 individual household toilets were constructed at a cost of 11 crore rupees. She said it is proposed to obtain 17 crore rupees from the Government of India under Centrally sponsored schemes for handling the various solid waste management projects. She also said that Clean Puducherry is our objective and the state will strive hard to achieve garbage-free Puducherry.<br />'' <br />'' Dr Bedi said, the tourism sector is registering a constant growth and there was about eight per cent increase in tourists arrival during the last year. Puducherry is a well known weekend destination for tourists, she added. The LG further said, the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) of the UT for 2018-19  is 11 per cent higher than that of the previous year. The per capita income of Puducherry has also increased, showing an annual growth rate of eight per cent.<br />'' <br />'' After the Lt.Governor concluded her address, Speaker Sivakozhunthu read out the Tamil version of her speech before she left the house. Later, Sivakozhunthu moved the Motion of Thanks on the Lt.Governor's address and adjourned the house till tomorrow morning.<br />''  <br />
