Budget session of Parliament begins today

The Budget Session of Parliament begins today with an address by the President Mrs. Pratibha Devisingh Patil to a joint sitting of both Houses. The address is expected to outline government's plans and policies on key issues. The BJP led NDA has decided to move an adjournment motion in Lok Sabha demanding suspension of question hour for discussion on price rise. The NDA will also seek clarification from the government on its inititiative for foreign secretary level talks with Pakistan. The Prime Minister has already said that the government is ready to discuss all issues including the Indo-Pak Foreign Secretary level talks to be held on Thursday. AIR correspondent reports that the budget session is expected to be a stormy one. The rail budget will be presented on the 24th and the General Budget on 26th. The session will conclude on 7th of May.
