Budget Session of Mizoram Legislative Assembly begins

The Budget Session of the Sixth Legislative Assembly of the state of Mizoram began Tuesday morning. The session began with the address of the Governor of Mizoram, Lt. Gen. (Retd.) M M Lakhera to the assembly. The session will last till 30th March, 2011 and will have seven sittings. The Vote on Account for the year 2011-12 and Supplementary Demands or the year 2010-11 will be presented in the assembly on 29th March, 2011. The Governor, in his address to the assembly today, said that the Mizoram government is committed to bring out revolutionary changes towards economic self-reliance, growth and poverty alleviation through the New Land Use Policy. The state flagship scheme for sustainable development was launched through out the state on 14th January, 2011. He said, maintaining peace and tranquility has always been the government's top priority. Talking about modernisation of police force to tackle crime, he said the Crime and Criminal Tracking and Network System is being undertaken to fight crime on a real time basis.
