The budget session of the Maharashtra legislature will begin from tomorrow in Mumbai. Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Ajit Pawar will present his first budget on 23rd March. The fifty per cent reservation bill for women in local self-government bodies is expected to be introduced in this session. Opposition party Shiv Sena, who is opposing the Jaitaput Nuclear project, would raise the issue in the session and might also demand for its scrapping. Leader of Opposition in the Legislative assembly Eknath Khadse said that opposition will demand a white paper on the state economy and would seek details of the spending of the government. He said that the opposition would also raise the issue of irregularities in cooperative sector and Agricultural Produce Marketing Committees in the state. The six- week long session will be Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan's first budget session after he took over the charge last November following the resignation of his predecessor Ashok Chavan in the wake of Adarsh Housing scam.
