Budget Session of Bihar legislature begins

Budget Session of Bihar legislature today began with the address of governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar to the joint sitting of both Houses. During his speech the Governor enumerated the works and achievements of State government specially in law and order and police reforms. Earlier the proceedings of the Lower House began with opening address of Speaker Awadh Bihari Choudhary. After the address of the Governor the House will take up the no confidence motion against the incumbent Speaker who is member of the RJD. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will seek the vote of trust after the proceedings of the no confidence motion against incumbent Speaker Mr. Choudhary. The Economic Survey of Bihar will be also presented in the House.<br />''<br />''<br />

<span style="color: #212529;">In Bihar, the budget session of the State Legislature today began with the address of Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar. The state finance minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary will table the Bihar Economic Survey after the address of the Governor.<br />''<br />''The State budget for the Financial Year 2023-24 will be presented tomorrow. After the breakup of the NDA coalition in Bihar in August 2022 this will be the first budget of the Grand Alliance (GA) government led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.<br />''<br />''The debate on the governor's address will commence tomorrow and the government's reply will be on 1st March.<br />''<br />''The budget session of the Bicameral House will continue till 5th April and a total of 22 sittings are scheduled to be held during the over a month-long session.</span><br />''<br />''The Governor of Bihar, Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar said that his government is working with its agenda of Development with Justice. Addressing the Joint sitting of the Bihar Legislature today,  Mr Arlekar said the caste-based census has been launched to get exact information about the social, economic, educational and residential status of people of the State.<br />''<br />''He said the inference of the caste-based census will help the government to formulate and provide benefits of its schemes in a better way to the deprived sections.<br />''<br />''The Governor stated that the Bihar government is firm on its policy of zero tolerance against corruption. A total of 85 cases have been registered in 2022 by the Vigilance department against public servants of which 52 have been caught red-handed while taking bribes, added the Governor.<br />''<br />''Mr. Arlekar said effective action has been taken in the last three years against the COVID-19 pandemic through proper testing, tracking and treatment. He mentioned that so far 15.72 crores shots of vaccines have been given in the State which includes first, second and booster doses.<br />''<br />''He said so far 13,106 dependents of deceased in COVID-19 cases have got an ex-gratia of Rs. 4 lakhs with an additional amount of Rs. 50,000 provided by the Centre per case.<br />''<br />''<span style="color: #212529;">The Session is likely to be stormy as opposition BJP is geared up to corner the Nitish Kumar-led government over deteriorating law and order situation, recent deaths in hooch tragedies in the state and several other issues.</span>
