The five-day Budget Session of the Fifth Arunachal Legislative Assembly began today with the customary address by Governor JJ Singh. After the Governor’s address, Education Minister Bosiram Siram introduced the Arunachal Pradesh Education Bill 2010, the Arunachal Pradesh College and Other Institutions of Higher Education (Establishment and Regulation) Bill 2010 and the Arunachal Pradesh State Council for Technical Education Bill 2010. As many as eight Bills were introduced in the House today. The Arunachal Budget 2010 will be presented on Friday by Finance Minister Setong Sena. Earlier, highlighting the achievements of the Congress government and its vision for the state’s development, the Governor said the government should give highest priority towards providing a clean, efficient, and transparent and people- friendly administration. He told the house that more than 32,000 households were given employment under NREGA during this year and efforts were being made to provide potable drinking water to all villages of the state by 2011-12. The law and order situation has remained normal during the year, he said adding 51 cadres of various insurgent groups surrendered in Tirap district alone. MR JJ Singh hoped that the first budget session will bring about important decisions for the development of the state.
