BSP candidate booked in UP for violation of election code of conduct

In Uttar Pradesh a case of violation of election code of conduct has been lodged against Bahujan Samaj Party candidate in Ghazipur district for distributing sarees, liquor and cash to voters.Quoting police sources our Lucknow correspondent reports that about 50 thousand rupees in cash, 100 sarees and 252 bottles of liquor were recovered from a vehicle during a raid. Police has seized the vehicle and other materials. Polling in this district will be held tomorrow.Similarly in Bulandshahr district a case of violation of Model code of Conduct against nine people, including a Congress candidate has been registered. He is party candidate from Sikandrabad assembly constituency.Surveillance teams and flying squads have recovered about 53 lakhs unaccounted money during last 24 hours from Meerut, Kanpur, Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar and Bareilly districts. About 10 persons have been detained for further interrogation by the income tax department officials.
