The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) today made a forceful plea for amending the Constitution to provide for reservations for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in promotions in the jobs. Initiating a Short Duration discussion on the subject in the Rajya Sabha, senior party leader Mr Satish Chandra Mishra said that in the wake of the recent judgement by the Supreme Court, there is an urgent need for amending relevant Articles of the Constitution. He also drew attention of the House to such cases in respect of Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. The discussion is continuing.
