BSNL on Thursday launched a unique programme to empower BPL families in three states of Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Tamilnadu. Under this programme BSNL will provide free mobile handsets with connection to 1,000 BPL families in each of three states. The Pilot Project was started from Phagi near Jaipur in Rajasthan, where Chairman and Managing Director, BSNL, Mr. Gopal Das presented 1000 handsets to BPL families of the area.
