BSF troops foil major infiltration bid by militants in Kathua district of J&K

BSF troops foiled a major infiltration bid by a group of four to six militants after a heavy fire-fight using rocket propelled grenades along the International Border in Kathua district, a senior officer said today. The militants had attacked a vehicle carrying troops on patrolling with RPGs followed by heavy and indiscriminate firing at forward area Bobiya in Kathua around 2345 hours.<br/><br/>PTI reports quoting BSF official that the BSF troops guarding the borderline retaliated resulting in exchanges for over 20 minutes. When the BSF fired para bombs for illumination of the area, the militants escaped and were seen carrying an injured, the officer said.<br/><br/>In another incident of ceasefire violation, Pakistani forces resorted to heavy firing and shelling in Poonch District along the line of control and Kathua district along International Border in Jammu and Kashmir. Defence sources said, the Pakistani forces started unprovoked firing and shelling on Indian positions in Bhimbhar Gali sector of Poonch around 4:30 pm. The troops guarding the borderline retaliated the firing and the exchange of fire lasted for about four hours.
