BSF seizes Rs 64 lakhs fake notes in current year

The Inspector General of Border Security Force (BSF), Punjab Frontier, Mr. Himmat Singh has said that there is no doubt the force has got some inputs regarding threat from across the border, but to avoid any untoward incident, BSF has already beefed up the security on the borders.<br/><br/>The IG claimed that induction of modern surveillance equipments has given thrust to the border domination measures in an effective manner and desirable results have been achieved.<br/><br/>Addressing a press-conference in Jalandhar, yesterday, on the eve of the 44th Raising Day of BSF, Mr. Singh revealed that the fencing of about 125 kilometers out of total 450 kilometers on Indo-Pak borders in Punjab has been damaged and accordingly a plan is being sent to the Union Government for seeking fund for its immediate repair.<br/><br/>Admitting that there is a spurt in the smuggling of narcotics from across the border as compare to last years, the IG revealed that 117.3 kilogram of heroin had been seized from the border in this year till date as many as 35 Pakistan nationals had also been apprehended by the force.<br/><br/>Listing out the achievements of the Punjab Frontier, IG Singh said that Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) of Rs 64 lakhs and 17 weapons had been recovered from the Indo-Pak border in this year whereas three Pakistanis and one Bangladesh national had also been killed.<br/><br/><br/><br/>
