The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange jumped 214 points, or 1.3 percent, to 16,441, in opening trade, today, lifted by a rally in the global markets. After easing slightly, the Sensex stood 179 points or 1.1 percent in the green, at 16,406 a short while ago. Stock markets in Japan, Hong Kong, Indonesia, South Korea and Singapore were up between 0.7 percent and 2.5 percent, today, on hopes that the global economy is recovering. Over in the US, the Dow Jones Industrial Average had surged 1.7 percent, overnight.
