BSE Sensex up by 151 points

The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange jumped 118 points, or 0.7 per cent, to 17,502, in opening trade, today, amid a rally in the global markets. Gaining further ground, the Sensex stood 151 points, or 0.9 percent in the green, at 17,534, a short while ago.Stock markets in Japan, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, South Korea, Singapore and Taiwan were up between 0.5 per cent and 2.3 per cent, after the US central bank pledged to keep borrowing costs near zero for an extended period. The US Dow Jones Industrial average had gained 0.4 per cent, overnight.
