BSE Sensex surges 300 points

The Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex surged by 300 points to 16,353 in opening trade on Friday on fresh buying by funds and retail investors, bolstered by firming global trends following a higher-than-expected growth in the US economy.After losing most of its gains, the Sensex stood 87 points, or 0.5 per cent in the green at 16,053 a short while ago.
