BSE Sensex stands 74 points in positive in afternoon trade

Recovering from its initial losses, the Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange stood 74 points, or 0.4 percent in the positive zone, at 18,494 in afternoon trade, a short while ago. The Sensex rebounded, after most of the key Asian bourses moved up from their intra-day lows. Earlier in the morning, however, the Sensex had opened 69 points in the red, at 18,351, on fresh selling by investors. Key stock indices in Japan, China, Singapore and Taiwan were up by between 0.1 percent and 0.5 percent, today. But over in the US, the Dow Jones Industrial Average had closed 0.5 per cent lower, overnight.
