BSE Sensex stands 169 points in green

Extending its winning streak for the seventh straight session, the Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange climbed 139 points, or 0.7 per cent, to a fresh 32-month high of 19,486 in opening trade today on sustained capital inflows by foreign funds. Climbing further, the Sensex stood 169 points, or 0.9 per cent in the green, at 19,516, a short while ago. Stock markets in Hong Kong, Indonesia, Singapore, South Korea and Taiwan were up by between 0.1 per cent and 3.8 per cent. The key Nikkei index in Japan jumped 2.5 per cent, after that country's central bank intervened to weaken its currency for the first time since 2004.
