The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange rose by over 187 points in opening trade today on fresh buying by funds, taking positive cues from other Asian markets. The 30-share index, which lost 220 points in the previous session on Friday, recovered by 187 points, or 1.11 per cent, to 17,027 in morning deals. In a similar fashion, the wide-based National Stock Exchange Nifty index gained 56 points, or 1.10 per cent, to 5,128.In the Asian region, Japan's Nikkei rose by 0.58 per cent while Hong Kong's Hang Seng index by 0.23 per cent in morning trade today. In the US, the Dow Jones Industrial Average ended 1.90 per cent higher in the previous session.
