The Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark index Sensex on Friday rose by over 162 points to 16,858 in late morning trade. Similarly, the wide-based National Stock Exchange index Nifty also rose by 47 points to 4,999. Marketmen said after a fall in the previous session the shares were trading at attractive low levels that led to good buying in fundamentally strong stocks.
