BSE Sensex recovers in afternoon

Recovering from initial losses, the Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange stood a modest 10 points in the positive zone, at 19,622, in choppy trade, in afternoon deals, a short while ago. Earlier in the morning, however, the Sensex had opened 69 points, or 0.3 per cent lower, at 19,543, on continued profit-booking by investors.Other Asian markets in Japan, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Indonesia, Singapore and South Korea were trading mixed today. The US Dow Jones Industrial Average had gained 0.3 per cent, overnight.
