BSE Sensex recovers by over 55 points in opening trade

The Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex recovered by over 55 points in opening trade today on emergence of buying by funds in heavy-weight stocks.The 30-share index, which had lost over 189 points in the previous session, bounced back by 55.65 points, or 0.32 per cent, to 17,197.18 points in the first five minutes of trading.Likewise, the wide-based National Stock Exchange's Nifty rose 15.55 points, or 0.30 per cent, to 5,151.70 points. Meanwhile, Japan's Nikkei rose by 0.52 per cent in opening trade.
