BSE Sensex recovers 78 points in opening trade

The Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex which has lost almost 394 points in the previous two sessions, recovered by 78 points, or 0.43 per cent, to 18,215 in opening trade. The wide-based National Stock Exchange index Nifty also moved up by 17 points, or 0.33 per cent, to 5,456. Meanwhile, Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index rose by 0.03 per cent and Japan's Nikkei by 0.88 per cent in early trade today. In the US, the Dow Jones Industrial Average ended 0.55 per cent lower in Tuesday's mixed trade.Rupee gains 9 paise against US dollar The Indian rupee strengthened by 9 paise to Rs 45.06 against the US dollar in early trade. The rupee had depreciated by 29 paise to close at a nearly two-month low of Rs 45.16 against the US dollar in the previous session. Oil price higher in Asian trade today Oil price was higher in Asian trade today. New York's main contract, light sweet crude for June delivery advanced 80 cents to 97.71 USD a barrel and Brent North Sea crude for July delivery gained 57 cents to 110.56 USD.
