BSE Sensex gains 76 points in opening trade

Snapping its two-session losing streak, the Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex rose by nearly 76 points in opening trade today on selective buying by funds and retail investors amid firm cues from Asian markets. The 30-share barometer, which lost 87 points in theprevious two sessions, recovered by 76 points to 18,803 as investors targeted oil and gas, realty, IT and FMCG sector stocks.Similarly, the broad-based National Stock Exchange Nifty index moved up by 19 points to 5,644.In the Asian region, Hong Kong's Hang Seng index rose by 0.65 per cent.In the US, the Dow Jones Industrial Average ended 0.45 per cent higher on Wednesday.
