Snapping a five-session losing streak, the Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange closed 60 points, or 0.3 percent higher, at 17,461, after the Reserve Bank affected only a modest hike in key policy rates. The Nifty at the National Stock Exchange advanced 26 points, or 0.5 percent, to 5,230.Stock markets in Japan, China, Hong Kong, Singapore and South Korea ended mixed.
