BSE Sensex gains 40 points

The BSE benchmark Sensex fell by over 55 points in early trade today. Later, it recovered its initial losses and was trading at 18,545, up by 40 points a short while ago. In the Asian region, Hong Kong's Hang Seng index was trading 0.20 per cent lower and Japan's Nikkei lost 0.12 per cent this morning. In the US, the Dow Jones Industrial Average ended 0.12 per cent lower in Wednesday's trade.
