The markets ended their four-day rising trend on Wednesday due to lower global indices. The Bombay Stock Exchange Sensex ended at 17,343.82, weaker by 57 points. The National Stock Exchange Nifty closed at 5169.45, down by 18 points. The consumer durables were the leading sectoral gainer for the second day in a row. The sell-off in capital goods, metal, oil and gas exploration and select private financial companies' shares along with ITC, Hero Honda, Sun Pharma and Reliance Communications put pressure on the markets. However, realty, cement, select auto, power stocks, SBI and HUL were losers.BSE Midcap Index ended up by 22.28 points at 6696.75 while BSE Smallcap Index closed at 8307.90, up by 92.93 points.
