The British Prime Minister, Mr. David Cameron, has cast doubt on his predecessor Mr. Gordon Brown as a candidate to head the International Monetary Fund. In an interview, Mr. Cameron suggested Mr. Brown might not be the best person for the job because of his views on Britain's public finances. Brown's government proposed only modest austerity measures to slash Britain's deficit, which swelled dramatically following the financial crisis and the ensuing recession. Mr. Cameron indicated the candidate could come from China or India.
