Information Infrastructure and Innovation Adviser to the Prime Minister, Dr Sam Pitroda has said that 100 million people will be connected through broad band in five years time.<br/><br/>Speaking to members of the Indian Women Press Corp in New Delhi today, Mr Pitroda said that the first exercise will be to connect 2 lakh 50 thousand panchayats through broad band. He said, this can go a long way in getting various government schemes like NREGA, pensions and education and health information for better deliveiry system.<br/><br/>Mr Pitroda, who was responsible for the first telecom revolution, said the next revolution will be to use the Telecom, IT and broadband to improve education and health. <br/><br/>Mr. Pitroda said that the government is building national knowledge network where 5000 nodes with 10 GB facility will be connected to all the universities and 110 nodes have already become opertional. <br/><br/>He said, the next decade will be extremely important in this regard. Mr. Pitroda also said that Cyber Space security is also of a great concern as cyber warfare is going to be a reality.<br/><br/>Mr Pitroda has also plans to build India Food Bank on the lines of the global food bank network.
