In Uttar Pradesh, an innovative project providing Broadband internet facility over power lines is successfully implemented in seven villages of Allahabad and Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj Nagar districts.AIR Lucknow correspondent reports this Indo- Canadian Government Project is being undertaken by Indian Institute of Information Technology, Allahabad and Corinex Communication Corporation, Canada jointly. Initially, the technology will connect adjoining villages at IIIT-Allahabad and Amethi campus to the internet using existing power lines to transfer broadband Internet access.IIIT-A Director Dr. MD Tiwari said the objective of this research and development project is to develop BPL technology to suit Indian conditions so that the technology can be later deployed for large scale use.
