Environment Minister Jayanthi Natarajan says a broad policy document will be framed to issue clearances to power projects in ecologically sensitive areas. She asserted that protection of the environment is her ministry's mandate. Natarajan gave this promise to a delegation of leading power company CEOs who met her seeking clear timelines for grant of green clearances. She said, the government's policy in sanctioning environment clearances will be transparent, consistent and there will be complete clarity. However, she told corporate bigwigs that the Ministry will formulate separate guidelines for the power sector and the rest of the sectors.
