The government today made it clear that it will take decision on formation of new states only when there is a broad consensus in the parent state. Minister of State for Home Affairs, R P N Singh, in a written reply in the Lok Sabha, said creation of any new State has wide ramifications and direct bearing on the federal polity of the country. He said there is a demand from various groups belonging to seven states for creation of new states including that of Telangana in
Andhra Pradesh and Koshalanchal in Odisha.
