A London newspaper says Libyan rebels have detained up to eight British Special Forces soldiers in the east of the country. The Sunday Times says the soldiers have been escorting a British diplomat to meet opposition leaders. The paper says the rebels were furious that the British had turned up uninvited as any suggestion of foreign help would be a propaganda gift for Col. Gaddafi. The British Defence Secretary Liam Fox has confirmed that there is a British team in Eastern Libya but he refused to comment on the newspaper report.
