British police have identified the perpetrator of Wednesday's deadly attack near Parliament in London. Police say the attacker was British-born Khalid Masood and suspect he carried out the attack under the influence of Islamist ideology. <br/><br/>They said Masood had previous convictions for crimes including assault and possession of a knife. Three women and five men were arrested in London and Birmingham on suspicion of preparation of terrorist acts following the attack. <br/><br/>Islamic State group has claimed the responsibility for the attack. The assault left 5 people, including a police officer, dead and 40 wounded. Police shot the assailant to death.
