The British government has paid out nearly one and a half million dollars so far this year in compensation to Afghans for deaths, injuries and damage to property. More than 160 thousand dollars paid to the families of 35 civilians killed in NATO operations. Another 17 cases are still being investigated. Britain has around nine thousand five hundred troops in Afghanistan.
