Australia today defeated India by 110 runs in their tri-series ODI in Brisbane. Electing to bat, Australia made 288 for five in their 50 overs, and then bowled out India for 178 in 43.3 overs. It was a batting disaster for India, with one after another batsman failing to stand up to attacks by Australian bowlers particularly of Lee and Hilfenhaus. Gambhir, Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Tendulkar left the crease without making any substantial contribution to the Team's total. Skipper Dhoni was the only batsman who could cross the half century mark. He made 56. On the Australian side, Mike Hussey scored 59 and Peter Forrest made 52 . Australian Paceman Ben Hilfenhaus was adjudged Man of the Match for taking five wickets for just 33 runs.Meanwhile ,Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been suspended for one match after his side was fined for a second minor over rate offence within a year during the match . The visitors were ruled to be two overs short of its target at the end of the match when time allowances were taken into consideration. Match Referee Andy Pycroft also imposed a 40 per cent fine on Dhoni while each of his players received 20-per-cent fines.India will next play with Srilanka on the 23rd of this month at the same venue .
