BRICS Working Group meets on "Energy Saving and Energy Efficiency"

The BRICS Working Group on "Energy Efficiency and Energy Savings" which met in Visakhapatnam yesterday for a two-day international workshop will chalk out a plan during the course of deliberations and a memorandum of understanding (MoU) would be signed in Energy Saving and Energy Efficiency practices. <br/><br/>The MoU intends to pursue energy cooperation through joint research and technology projects, technology transfer, conferences, lectures and seminars and exchange of experience and best practices available among the BRICS nations. <br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports that the workshop hosted by the Union Power Ministry was attended by around 30 delegates from the BRICS nations comprising, Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa besides host India. <br/><br/>The event is a matter of pride and privilege for Andhra Pradesh, which has been vigorously implementing and pursuing energy efficient activities and bagged all five national level awards on energy conservation. <br/><br/>The State government has also taken up the energy efficiency campaign to the next level by distributing energy-efficient agricultural pumps and LED lights and energy-efficient fans to domestic consumers. <br/><br/>India has assumed the BRICS chair for 2016 and will accordingly shape and steer the BRICS agenda hosting several sectoral meetings and activities across the country. <br/><br/>Apart from being innovative this will also serve the purpose of branding the country globally. A joint statement is likely on the penultimate day today for initiatives of cooperation in the energy efficiency and energy saving findings, practices and technology sharing.<br/><br/>
