BRICS Wellness Workshop begins in Bengaluru

A two-day BRICS Wellness Workshop has begun in Bengaluru. Union Minister for Chemicals & Fertilizers and Parliamentary Affairs Ananth Kumar inaugurated the Workshop today. The Workshop has been organised by Ministry of AYUSH and Ministry of External Affairs with support of Government of Karnataka. <br/><br/>It will discuss the importance of traditional medicine in contemporary community health care due to its health promotive, disease preventive, curative, rehabilitative and rejuvenation properties. <br/><br/>Speaking on the occasion, Mr Kumar said, through this workshop, BRICS nations should moot the WHO to create a separate World Organisation for Traditional Medicine under the umbrella of WHO. Speaking on the occasion, Minister of State for AYUSH (independent charge) Sripad Yesso Naik said, India was the first country to adopt the WHO policy for prevention and control of non-communicable diseases.<br/> <br/>K.R. Ramesh Kumar, Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Karnataka Government, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, Founder of Art of Living and BRICS delegates also spoke on the occasion. <br/><br/>Mr Naik will also inaugurate a four-day Comprehensive Health Fair on Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy in Bengaluru this evening.
