BRICS Summit:India for measures to revive global economic growth & ensure sustainable development

India will pitch for measures to revive global economic growth and also ensure sustainable development at the fifth BRICS Summit in Durban. In his departure statement before leaving for the summit on 26th and 27th of this month, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said, New Delhi will also urge for faster progress on reform of institutions of global political and economic governance. He said, it is important that Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa (BRICS) continue to consult closely on development affecting global peace and security. He said, India which holds the current BRICS Chairmanship, received unstinted support of partners in successfully implementing the agenda adopted in the 4th BRICS summit in New Delhi last year. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said, he also looks forward to his bilateral meeting with Chinese President Xijinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin, President of South Africa, Jacob Zuma and Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff. Dr. Singh said, his meeting with the new Chinese President Xijinping will be an opportunity not only to greet him personally and also to discuss on maintaining the positive trajectory of bilateral relationship and further strenghening it. The Prime Minister said, he also looks forward to his meeting with distinguished leaders of African Nation, arriving in Durban during the Summit.
