BRICS Sherpas to hold discussion to finalise text of Goa Declaration, Action Plan

The BRICS Sherpas will meet for the second day today in Goa to discuss and finalise the text of the Goa Declaration and the Goa Action Plan for adoption by the leaders at the upcoming BRICS Summit. <br/><br/>The meeting is being chaired by Secretary, Economic Relations, Amar Sinha, who is the Indian Sherpa. Official sources said the sherpas discussed several important subjects yesterday, including reform of the UN and IMF, WTO and G20 issues. <br/><br/>Progress on the sustainable development goals also came up for discussion. A particular focus was on intra BRICS Trade, finance and industrial cooperation as well as BRICS cooperation in education, health, agriculture, science, energy and disaster management. Terrorism being a common challenge faced by all BRICS countries was an important part of the discussion. <br/><br/><br/>The two day BRICS Summit will get underway in Goa tomorrow. The theme of the 8th BRICS Summit is Building Responsive, Inclusive and Collective Solutions. Our correspondent reports India's chairmanship of BRICS has been marked by several new initiatives, enhanced people to people contacts and broadbasing BRICS sectoral cooperation.
