Bribery case: Ex Goa minister Alemao remanded to 4-day police custody

Arrested Former Goa Public Work Minister Churchill Alemao has been today remanded to 4 day Police Custody by the District and Session Court North Goa. Mr. Alemao was arrested by the Crime Branch of the Goa police last night in connection with Louis Berger bribery scam. Mr. Alemao has moved bail application in court which will come up for hearing on Monday. Alemao is the first political leader among the three accused arrested in this scam. <br/><br/>Crime Branch claims that Churchill Alemao is one of the recipients of the bribe paid by Louis Berger officials in 2010. Former Project Director of Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Anand Wachasunder and Former Vice President of Louis Berger Company Satyakam Mohanty have already been arrested by the crime branch. <br/><br/>Former Goa Chief Minister Digamber Kamat is also one of the suspected in this multi crore bribery scam. Apprehending arrest Mr. Kamat has applied for anticipatory bail. Hearing on his bail application will take place tomorrow. Kamat was quizzed twice by Goa Crime Branch. Today talking to AIR in Goa Assembly Complex Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar said that there is no political Vendetta and Law is doing its own course as all are equal before law.
