Panaji Special court dealing with corruption cases today granted conditional anticipatory bail to the former Goa Chief Minister Mr Digamber Kamat in connection with the Louis Berger bribery scam. Mr Digamber Kamat has been asked by the Special Court headed by Judge B P Deshpande to furnish a personal bond of Rs. 1 Lakh along with a surety of a similar amount. <br/><br/>Former Chief Minister and present congress MLA Mr kamat was interrogated 4 times by the Crime Branch of Goa police in the alleged role in bribe paid to win the constancy for the Japan International cooperation Agency (JICA) funded water and sewage project in Goa. <br/><br/>In related development, the court also granted bail to the arrested hawala operator Raichand Soni. The Crime branch alleged that the bribe money was rotated through hawala operator.'The bail plea of the former Goa PWD Minister Churchill Alemao and former Director of Water and sewage project Anand Wachasunder was already rejected by the court. Both were arrested by crime branch of Goa police in connection with the Louis Berger bribery scam and presently are in judicial custody.<br/><br/> The bribery scam came into light after the US department of Justice revealed that money was paid to some minister and officials to bag consultancy deals for Japanese International cooperation Agency (JICA) water and sewerage project in Goa in 2010.
