A new study has claimed that placing Laptops on legs for longer periods can damage the skin permanently. According to a study carried out by Swiss doctors at University Hospital Basel, reported in a journal placing Laptops next to the skin for hours can lead to toasted skin syndrome which is an unusual looking mottled skin conditions caused by long term heat exposure. The researchers have cited the case study of 12-year old boy who developed this problem after playing computer games a few hours daily for several months. The Researchers have suggested that laptop users should place a carrying case or some other heat shield under the device if they have to hold the laptops on their lap.
