Brazil rescues 95 workers being kept in slave like conditions

The authorities in Brazil say they have rescued 95 workers who were being kept in slave like conditions at sugar cane plantations in Rio de Janeiro State. Brazil's national news agency said the workers were not registered and had no clean drinking water or safety equipment. Another fifty workers were rescued from similar conditions in Minas Gerais State. The Brazilian government launched a national plan to eradicate slavery in 2002.
